First announced four years ago as “Boot to Gecko,” Firefox OS was an interesting concept. Partially based on Android, it was an open-source operating system entirely powered by web technologies. All of the apps, the interface, the home screen, and many parts of the system were written in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Sound familiar?
Firefox OS mostly targeted emerging markets, with extremely low-end devices – some with as little as 128MB of RAM.
Firefox OS is completely dead, Mozilla lays off connected devices team was written by the awesome team at Android Police.
